I AGREE!!!
We need to think about the bottom line and the balance of trade deficit that is being caused by the import of oil from Mexico, Canada as well as the Middle East!
We are still going to be using oil/gas in some form or another for the foreseeable future. We should be doing so in the cleanest and most financially favorable manner.

It would be cool if petroleum reserves are conserved and the supply is extended, all the while OPEC is forced to reduce its price control on oil. Burn the gas, baby.

My propane kitchen stove heats the kettle of water faster than natural gas. My new Glass top Electric stove heats the same kettle of water faster than either propane or natural gas. Natural GAS is from the old technology and causes air pollution.

Who convinces Washington? How do we get the word out? Could it be they are sold out to big oil?. I have written my senators but I get no answer back to my letters. Maybe, the same reason they turn a deaf ear to T. Boone Pickens. I think when Kissinger made oil agreements with the Saudis and that oil would be traded in dollars, he made a commitment we can't get out of.

We have plenty of oil and gas, but what use is it if we don't use them. What are we saving them for?

cincommutr - Since natural gas was fully deregulated prices rose, then dropped to their lowest point in 1995, then spiked in 2005. They are again at the 1995 levels. They haven't continued to increase.

T. Boone plugs whatever will make him money. In Summer 2008, he was pushing wind power as oil spiked at almost $150/barrel. By November 2008 with oil falling below $50, wind power was no longer profitable so he announced that his company, Mesa Electric, had stopped erection of new wind turbines!

If we keep using more and more natural gas we will deplete it sooner and raise the price for those heating your home.

Since natural gas price was deregulated, price of it has increased as electricity has stayed relatively low.

When Al Gore invests & promotes Green Power & Energy Independence, he's labeled a 'fraud & profiteer'. But, when Conservative T. Boone Pickens does the same thing, he's called 'a smart man'. So many hypocrites on this board...

Of course we are, eating ourselves to death, not using OUR natural resources, letting China and OPEC dictate what we pay, using the most energy per person in the world, making the most trash per person in the world . How can we not be dumb?

Does anybody see a possible conflict of interest here? I mean, I would like to see us use more natural gas, but I don't think it is going to be a panacea.

Many people are afraid of natural gas and if the public starts using more and supplies drop watch the prices go up. Our electrical generating stations depend on it; so let's be careful which apple cart we upset.

Good idea but not very fast to fill. I drove a school bus that was natural gas powered. It took almost 15 minutes to fill up. Unless they come up with a faster way and better mileage I'm not interested.

It sounds like a good idea. It would create jobs, installers for all the conversion equipment; stations and cars would need the conversions. It will cost everyone who converts money, stations owners and vehicle owners. The one variable how does MPG compare to gasoline?
